Branch bank, Fislisbach. Competition entry.
Confidentiality is the most precious asset a bank has to offer. The renovation of this branch is guided by this principle at a time when banks are redefining themselves. As it’s original purpose became obsolete with the introduction of a new autosave system the existing vault is converted into a meeting-room of highest standards. In this way, the most dominant and characteristic element of the space is preserved, while taking on a new function aligned with the restructuring. The acoustic design of the room ensures that sound remains contained even with open door. For particularly discreet visits the vault can also be accessed via the back door from the stairwell. This fully addresses the needs for confidentiality and, in turn, allows the rest of the bank to be organized as a generous, flexible, and open space. It should create a place where local clients can meet consultants in a relaxed setting for different requests and events. The counter service at a window has disappeared. An elegant, comfortable Meeting-Lounge sets the inviting center. As required it can be enclosed with a curtain dividing the open space in different zones ranging from more intimate conversations to larger event settings reflecting the bank’s cultural engagement.
