Background
After graduating with degrees in Architecture from ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne, I spent several years working in New York and Los Angeles. This time in the United States was a valuable experience, as it influenced my thinking and design processes, allowing me to challenge and expand the ideas and concepts of architecture that had been imparted to me during my years at university. After returning to Switzerland, it became important for me to incorporate these distilled insights into my projects.
Working in these two cities, I became particularly interested in how the quality of personal projects can assert itself within the critical analysis of heterogeneous, dynamic, and demanding environments, as well as amid the diverse interests of all stakeholders involved. The character of a project is significantly shaped by its context, which consists of local conditions, programmatic requirements, and the ideas of clients. I approach these various influences with a pragmatic mindset. I strive to develop projects with an open mind, overcoming constraints in order to allow all these aspects to manifest themselves in carefully realized architecture. This process can lead to unconventional solutions that may polarize, but that should not leave one indifferent.
